AD (Active Directory) Passwords
Individual workstations and applications use the Active Directory username and password for login. Only computers and applications in the ITS managed, "CP-CALPOLY" domain will have passwords that are synchronized with the Cal Poly (Portal) Password.
NOTE: Password synchronization will only occur AFTER a new Cal Poly Password is set using the Cal Poly Password Manager in the My Cal Poly Portal.
The best way to determine whether you workstation password will be affected by a Cal Poly password change is to perform the steps below.
- Log into your workstation.
- Use the Ctrl + Alt + Delete key combination.
- Select the Change Password button in the lower left hand corner of this screen.
- You will now see a screen that shows the Resources you are logged into.
- If you see CP-CALPOLY, your workstation password WILL CHANGE AUTOMATICALLY to match your My Cal Poly portal password the next time you change your portal password.
