Individual Accounts
The University provides messaging (Email) and UNIX accounts to all students eligible to enroll in state-supported instruction; employees of and emeritus University employees. UNIX accounts provide access to the Internet, and other networked University information resources. The University additionally provides employees, including student employees, with access to the University’s electronic calendaring system.
This service requires that ITS establish and maintain the appropriate computer accounts for each individual, support the underlying communication systems, and support messaging and electronic calendaring for each qualified individual.
Accounts for these individuals are created when they are entered into the respective administrative system as a student or state employee. This baseline university messaging “utility” is funded by ITS’s General Fund State Budget, augmented periodically through sound planning, consultation with the Information Resource Management Planning and Policy Committee (IRMPPC), and the annual campus Sources & Uses budget development process.
