Short-Term Account Cost Model
Short-term accounts are expected to be in existence for one to two years maximum. Extensions beyond two years must be authorized by the CIO, and the annual charge for the third year and beyond will revert to the first year rate to account for the loss of resources intended for short-term use.
Short-term accounts are intended for individuals who are not students or employees of the University or its auxiliaries who require access to University resources, either in direct support of the instructional mission, or in support of administrative and institutional needs of the University. These individuals have a need to interact on a regular basis with students, faculty, and/or staff in carrying out their duties and assignments. Examples of individuals in this category include consultants/contractors working on extended projects and volunteers providing direct assistance to a University organization or auxiliary.
Short-term accounts will include UNIX, messaging, and calendaring access. Cal Poly must fully recover any costs involved in supporting accounts for these individuals from their sponsoring organization.
