Cal Poly Password Expiration
The Cal Poly Password is used to access the My Cal Poly Portal, Oracle email and calendar and many other systems. For a complete list of systems that use the Cal Poly Password, see the Password FAQ.
For Assistance Managing Other Passwords, visit Synchronizing Passwords.
If you receive an email telling you that your Cal Poly Password is scheduled to expire, you MUST go to the My Cal Poly portal "Personal Info" tab and reset the password BEFORE the expiration date. For detailed instructions for managing your password, visit Password Help.
Annual Password Expiration
-
Beginning in Winter 2007, My Cal Poly Passwords will expire annually. The requirement to change your Cal Poly password annually is part of a larger effort at Cal Poly to make campus computing systems more secure. For more information about how computer security issues may effect you and your use of Cal Poly data, visit http://security.calpoly.edu.
-
Periodic email notifications will be sent prior to the Cal Poly Password expiration. Expiration notices may be sent well in advance to allow plenty of notice before summer, academic breaks, and busy times of the quarter.
-
If a new password is not set by the expiration date, access to the My Cal Poly portal and all services that use the Cal Poly Password will be denied. You may request assistance from the ITS Service Desk if your expiration date has passed, however, you will still have to manage the password as "assisted" password changes expire in 7 days.
Assisted Password Change Expiration
-
"Assisted" password changes - those password resets performed by an account administrator other than the account owner - will expire in seven (7) days.
-
"Default" passwords on new accounts will expire seven (7) days after the date on the account memo.
If you need assistance, contact the ITS Service Desk at servicedesk@calpoly.edu or 805-756-7000.
