CMS FAQ

What is my CMS-WTS username/password?

Your username is your Cal Poly "alias" (jmustang). Your password is the same as your Citrix password - unless you changed your Citrix password since approximately October 1, 2005. If the Citrix password has changed recently, try the old Citrix password if you remember it. If not, call the CMS Call Center at 756-7000, opt 3 to request a CMS-WTS password reset.

Do I need special software on my computer to access CMS-WTS?

Yes. Your LAN Coordinator may have already helped you download this software. You have the correct software if you have an icon on your desktop named: CMS-WTS CMS-WTS.rdp. If you do not have this icon, or if your icon is named something else, you should download the correct CMS-WTS client software.

How Do I get the CMS-WTS Client Software?

Download the file from: http://software.calpoly.edu/CMS-WTS.html. In the section “Production Cal Poly CMS-Windows Terminal Services,” choose the link for your operating system.

How do I know whether to use Citrix or Cal Poly CMS-WTS?

CMS-WTS Applications

nVision BrioQuery when accessing PolyData Warehouse tables. This includes both the HR, Finance (wrhsprod.oce) tables and the Student (prodacad.oce) tables.

Citrix Applications

HRSA development remains on Citrix, however HRSA Developers are beginning to access the HRSA prototype environment in CMS-WTS. See the links at http://software.calpoly.edu/developers.html.
NOTE: the primary focus of HRSA developers and functional staff at this time is to explore the prototype environment at above link (prt02).

Why can't I see my nVision or BrioQuery icons on the WTS Desktop?

Your WTS session was probably terminated abnormally and now the session must be manually disconnected. To resolve this, contact the CMS Call Center at 756-7000, option 3. To avoid this problem in the future always exit nVision, BrioQuery AND WTS gracefully. For nVision and BrioQuery choose "File/Exit." After exiting the applications, choose the Start button on the WTS desktop and then choose Log Off.

Why don't I see my preferred printer?

You may be using an older version of the CMS-WTS Client software. Your CMS-WTS desktop icon should say "CMS-WTS.rdp?" If not, go back to http://software.calpoly.edu/CMS-WTS.html and download the newer version.

What happened to all the stuff I had stored on S:/CMS/temp?

This information wasn't deleted. Contact the CMS Call Center at 756-7000, option 3 to request temporary file restoration. The Call Center will submit a Service Request and the ITS Special Support Services staff will to contact you to request information about which files you need.

I do both HR and Financial reporting and have saved reports in both the CMS-WTS and Citrix environments. Can I access reports save on Citrix when I’m in CMS-WTS?

Yes. Data stored on the Citrix "H" drive will be copied over nightly into the new "H" (a.k.a. "U" drive) in CMS-WTS. The copied data will be read-only in CMS-WTS and stored in the "Citrix Legacy Data" folder.

How do I close a CMS-WTS session that is hung?

Press the CTRL-ALT-END force quit a windows session.

Why don't I see all my icons for applications or environmental variables?

Confirm you are logged into the correct environment (e.g. production Finance, versus developer Finance). Also confirm that your user account is has been given rights and permissions to access production servers or "developer admin" on the prototype WTS servers. Visit http://software.calpoly.edu/developers.html for the newest updates and links for CMS-WTS development systems.
