Faculty, Students and Staff Email Delivery Address Updates Instructions

Faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students who have set a Cal Poly Password may update their Email Delivery Address via the My Cal Poly portal.

Applicants receive Cal Poly User Names (jmustang@calpoly.edu) that are automatically set to forward email to the email account provided with the application. Applicants should verify and update email delivery addresses associated with the Cal Poly User Name.

Steps to Update Email Delivery Address in the My Cal Poly Portal

  1. Log into the My Cal Poly portal at http://my.calpoly.edu with your official Cal Poly user name and password.
  2. Go to Personal Info channel on either your Main or Personal Info tab.
  3. Choose UPDATE to the right of the Email Delivery Address field.
  4. Either enter the Email Delivery Address of your choice (Example: jstudent@yahoo.com) or choose "Use Cal Poly Address" (jmustang@calpoly.edu) to have email sent to your Cal Poly email account. Note: Applicants get Cal Poly User Names but do not get Cal Poly email accounts until they register for classes and pay fees. As a result, Applicant email addresses must be one the Applicant has created on an outside email provider.
  5. Choose Update.
  6. SEND A TEST! Send an email to your Cal Poly email address (jmustang@calpoly.edu) and make sure it gets delivered to the account you specified.
  7. Upon completing Step 5, an automatically generated email message confirming your change will be sent to your chosen email delivery address.

People who set mail to deliver to their Cal Poly email account may access their email using a desktop client (like Outlook) or via the Zimbra web client located on the My Cal Poly Portal. People who choose a non Cal Poly Email Delivery Address will receive mail at the location they indicated in their Email Delivery Address field.
