Request An Account

If you are new to Cal Poly or need to request an account, please follow the appropriate instructions below.

Applicants and Students

Applicant and student accounts are created for those officially associated with the university via Admissions.

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff accounts are created for those officially associated with the university via Academic Personnel or Human Resources.

Affiliate

Affiliate accounts are used for individuals who are not officially associated with the university. Affiliate account requests are submitted by the sponsor. These accounts are paid for by the sponsoring Cal Poly organization.

To request an account, log in to My Cal Poly Portal.

  • Under your Single Click Links, select Technical Service Request.
  • Once logged in, select the New Account Request tab at the top of page.
  • Enter Recipient Information with either your information, by clicking the Recipient Same as Requestor button, or enter the Recipient's username for whom you are requesting the account and click the Click to Lookup Recipient button to populate the user's information. If the person is not a current member of Cal Poly, use aother (Anonymous Other) for the Recipient username.
  • Under Request Details:
    • Request Type: New Account
    • Request Sub-Type: Affiliated User Account (this will change the appearance of the SRS ticket)
  • Fill in all fields that are required (indicated with a red asterisk).
  • Click the Save button.
  • Once the account request is approved, the account is provisioned that night.

Department/Service

Department/Service accounts are organizational accounts for university departments, units, or services.

To request an account, log in to My Cal Poly Portal.

  • Under your Single Click Links, select Technical Service Request.
  • Once logged in, select the New Account Request tab at the top of page.
  • Enter Recipient Information with either your information, by clicking the Recipient Same as Requestor button, or enter the Recipient's username for whom you are requesting the account and click the Click to Lookup Recipient button to populate the user's information. If the person is not a current member of Cal Poly, use aother (Anonymous Other) for the Recipient username.
  • Under Request Details:
    • Request Type: New Account
    • Request Sub-Type: Organizational Account (Department, Club, IRA).
  • Fill in all fields that are required (indicated with a red asterisk).
  • Include information for the Account Administrator contact and Technical contact. They are the only ones who can request changes to the account and/or obtain the password.
  • Click the Save button.

Note: Clubs can request a password change by calling the ITS Service Desk at 805-756-7000 or by visiting the Natatorium (No. 46). Both the administrative or technical contact on this account can make the request.

PeopleSoft/CMS

Cal Poly uses PeopleSoft applications, also referred to as Common Management Systems (CMS), for Human Resources, Financials, and Student Administration.

To request an account, log in to My Cal Poly Portal.

  • Under your Single Click Links, select Technical Service Request.
  • Click the New CMS Account Request tab and follow the instructions on the form.
