Cal Poly Department-Sponsored Cellular Telephone Service For Faculty and Staff



Cal Poly contracts with Verizon Wireless and CellularOne to provide department-sponsored, cellular telephone service for Cal Poly faculty and staff members who need to perform their work. All applicable charges are billed to the individual’s monthly departmental telephone bill. Both companies provide competitive rate plans and discounts on wireless phones and accessories. The ITS Service Desk administers the cellular telephone program.

New department cellular service requests require approval from the department Telephone Coordinator.

Effective October 11, 2006, faculty and staff are no longer permitted to transfer existing personal cellular services to our main Cal Poly Verizon Wireless or CellularOne accounts. New service requests require a new contract with the vendor and thus, a new wireless number will be generated. This excludes the transfer of Cal Poly lines between vendors. In other words, you may still transfer your department-sponsored Verizon Wireless phone to CellularOne, and vice-versa.

Special Offers and Employee Discounts to Cal Poly Employees

Cal Poly employees who have cellular contracts not sponsored by their departments may also qualify for employee discounts.

All prices and availability of equipment is determined by the carrier and is subject to change without notice. Both CellularOne and Verizon Wireless require one or two year commitments. If applicable, early termination fees will be applied by the carrier and billed to the individual’s department.
