Digital Telephone Reference
Introduction
The Ericsson digital telephones provide access to many features. The LED display on your telephone shows the time, date and primary phone number when the phone is idle. The display shows the telephone number of an incoming call to the primary number unless Caller ID is blocked.
Placing Calls

Long Distance Dialing
Due to privacy issues about Social Security Numbers, Telecomm Services software can no longer keep track of individual students' long distance calls. Therefore the campus no longer supports long distance calling on dorm phones.
Sending Touch Tone Digits / (Tone Sender On)
This feature is used when connected to a call that requires additional digits/numbers such as calling card calls, pager access, bank-by-phone, etc. Tones will not sound in your ear but viewing the display will show/confirm the digits/numbers you are pressing.
- Press 9 after the dialed number answers. (Display will read "Tone Sender On")
Receiving Calls
Single Ring = Internal Call
Double Ring = External Call
Answering Calls
- Lift receiver if call is ringing on Access 1 -OR-
- Press flashing button and lift receiver.
Call Hold
- With party on line, press the line button holding the call.
- To retrieve the call, press the same button again.
Inquiry (Places caller on hold automatically to make a second call)
With party on line, press an available line button:
- Dial second party.
- To refer back to first party:
- Press line button holding the first party.
To alternate between calls:
- Press line button holding caller you wish to speak to (the other party is automatically on hold).
Call Transfer
- With party on line, press an available line button.
- Dial second party.
- After the first ring, press Transfer button -OR-
- Wait for answer, announce call, then press Transfer button.
Speaker
The telephone speaker is monitor only, meaning that the receiver must be lifted to speak, but you may listen through the speaker.
- To change from receiver to speaker, press the speaker button and replace the receiver or continue to speak into the receiver.
- To change from loudspeaker to receiver, lift the receiver or press the speaker button to continue without the speaker.
Call Forwarding/Diversion (Sends calls directly to Voicemail)
Obtain dial tone from your line,then choose from the following:
ALL CALLS (ALL incoming calls will divert; Set will not ring)
- Press *2# . After dial tone, press Clear button.
- To Cancel: Press #2# . After dial tone, press Clear button.
BUSY (Calls divert when your extension is busy)
- Press *22# . After dial tone, press Clear button.
- To Cancel: Press #22# . After dial tone, press Clear button.
NO ANSWER (Calls divert after ringing several times with no answer)
- Press *21# . After dial tone, press Clear button.
- To Cancel: Press #21# . After dial tone, press Clear button.
*Note: BUSY and NO ANSWER diversion can be active at the same time.
Ring Signal Tone (Ten different ringing signal tones available)
- Press Program button.
- Press a digit (0-9) on key pad.
- The telephone emits a different tone for each of the ten digits. When you find the one you prefer, press the Program button.
Ring Options
- Press the Program button.
- Press the line button to be programmed or changed.
- Enter one digit:
0 = Silent (flashes only)
1 = Normal ring
2 = Rings after delay
3 = Two rings at half volume (continues to flash)
4 = Two rings at half volume after delay (continues to flash)
5 = Automatic loudspeaker connection (Auto Answer function button required)
6 = Automatic loudspeaker connection (no Auto Answer function button required) - Press the line button being programmed.
- Press Program button to complete entry.
To Check The Ring Option Of A Line
- Press Program button.
- Press the line button; option number appears in display.
- Press Program button to clear display.
Volume Control
The volume control buttons which are located on the lower left front of the telephone are marked with + and - symbols.
Ringing Volume:
- While the phone is idle or ringing, press the + and - buttons to adjust volume up or down.
- With the receiver off the hook, press the + and - buttons to adjust volume up or down.
- With the loudspeaker activated, press the + and - buttons to adjust volume up or down.
*Note: Volume level is graphically displayed on the LED display when volume is being adjusted.
