- Accept 2nd Call (ODN2)
- When activated, allows a second incoming call to ring through on the available “ACCESS” line appearance.
- Abbreviated Dial, Individual
- Allows user to program up to 10 speed dial numbers on their telephone set
- Abbreviated Dial, Common (System Speed Dial)
- Allows user to access a common list of frequently dialed numbers (programmed at the system level) by dialing an abbreviated code assigned to that phone number.
- Additional Directory Number (ADN)
- Assigns an additional extension number to a digital set. This number can be used for intercoms, as a Direct Inward Dialing (DID) station, hotline, or a Hunt Group pilot number.

- Authorization Code (with campus phones only)
- The authorization code is a seven-digit number that is attached to an account number. The authorization code can be used to bill individual long distance calls to a special account number (such as a grant or research project). This code overrides an instrument’s dialing restrictions. For example, you may place a long distance call from a courtesy phone by using your authorization code. To use an authorization code, dial *6*, the seven-digit authorization code, #, then the long distance number.
- Automatic Answer (AANS)
- Allows a speakerphone to automatically answer after the first ring of an incoming call.
- Automatic Callback (CAB)
- This feature allows the caller to have the called on-campus extension that is presently busy or does not answer to automatically ring the caller’s extension when the called party becomes available. This feature must be activated while the called on-campus extension is ringing or while getting a busy signal. Because every extension has voice mail this feature is basically worthless (Call Diversion, Busy and Call Diversion, No Answer conflicts with Automatic Callback).
- Automatic Call Distributor (ACD)
- A specialized telephone device used to evenly distribute incoming calls to a specific group or groups of agents (individuals). Some ACD functions are: hold calls in queue for completion, provide call counts, queue statistics, and agent performance information

- Call Diversion, All Calls
- When activated, all incoming calls are forwarded to a pre-programmed point, normally voice mail. When Call Diversion, All Calls is activated, your desk set will not ring. If you have a campus PCS set, your pre-programmed point of your desk set will be your PCS set.
- Call Diversion, Busy
- When activated and your line is busy, an incoming call is forwarded to a pre-programmed point, normally Voice mail instead of the caller hearing a busy signal. If you have a campus PCS set, your pre-programmed point of your desk set will be your PCS set.
- Call Diversion, No Answer
- When activated and an incoming call is not answered, the call is forwarded to a pre-programmed point, normally Voice mail. If you have a campus PCS set, your pre-programmed point of your desk set will be your PCS set.
- Call Diversion, Follow-Me
- Allows users to have calls forwarded to any on-campus extension. This forwarding can be redirected as you travel from one on-campus location to another on-campus location.
- Call Forward

- Call Pick Up Group
- Established group permitting you to pick up other ringing lines assigned to the group from any line within the group.
- Common Hold (CUP)
- Enables a call to be placed on “hold” on one phone set and answer the caller on another phone set. If you have a caller on Common Hold, a second call will divert to the call diversion point, normally voice mail. (Common Hold overrides “Accept 2nd Call”). (see also Exclusive Hold)
- Conference Call
- Allows users to add more parties to your conversation (call). A maximum of eight parties can participate in a conference call of which three can be at off-campus numbers.
- Congestion
- CONGESTION will be displayed on an Ericsson digital telephone set when a “busy” condition is detected by the Ericsson system. A “busy” condition could occur:
a. While a call is being initiated,
b. After dialing the digits and a “busy” signal is heard and,
c. During an established call.

- Direct Inward Dial (DID)
- Allows an off-campus caller to directly dial an on-campus number. Example: Campus number 6-XXXX can be reached from off-campus by dialing 756-XXXX.
- Distinctive Ringing
- Allows users to audibly identify the ringing call as an “external” call, “internal” call or a “callback.”
- DTMF
- Dual Tone Multi-Frequency, sometimes called “Touch Tone,” is the set of two tones that is produced when a button on a telephone set is depressed.

- ETE
- The left-most function key on the Ericsson DBC203 telephone set used to turn the tone sender “ON” after call is answered.
- Exclusive Hold
- Places a caller on “hold” while user does another task. Caller can only be answered at called extension. (See also Common Hold)

- Hotline (ADN)
- Allows users to establish an immediate non-dialed connection between two stations through a pre-programmed key.
- Hunt Group
- This feature allows incoming or transferred calls to ring into a group of stations by dialing the main hunt group “pilot” number.

- Intercom Group
- Allows you to dial users in your intercom group with a special code.

- Last Number Redial
- Redial the last off-campus number dialed from the phone set by depressing ***.
- M -
- MNS

- Multiple Directory Number (MDN)
- Provides access to other digital sets' Primary, ODN or ADN lines. When the line is ringing and the key is pressed the call is answered, leaving the number busy to additional calls.When not ringing, can be used to make outgoing calls from the other line, or can be used to check for messages waiting (stutter dial tone) on the other line.

- Own Directory Number
- The primary extension number that is assigned to a telephone set.
- P -
- PBX
- A Private Branch Exchange allows 5-digit dialing to other on-campus users and provides access to the public telephone network by dialing “9.” An Ericsson MD110 is the PBX at Cal Poly.
- PCS Set
- A cellular-like, wireless phone that is used in conjunction with the wired Ericsson telephone set.
- Program
- Initiates and ends the programming of features.
- S -
- Secretary Handling (MNS)
- Works as a speed dial to the primary, ODN, number and a multiple directory number on the same key. When the line is ringing and the key is pressed the call is sent to your “Access” line, leaving the number available for additional calls.
- Speed Dial (TNS)
- Available function keys can be programmed to dial up to a twenty-digit number. ’Normal’ 202 sets have 2 vacant function keys and ‘normal’ 203 sets have 11 vacant function keys. (see also Abbreviated Dial)

- Tone Sender
- An Ericsson feature that must be activated to complete calls that require additional DTMF digits. Examples, credit card calls, interacting with banks and voice response systems, etc. This feature is activated by pressing the ETE key on a DBC 203 set or by depressing the number “9” key on any digital set.
- Transfer
- Allows a user to place a call on Exclusive Hold, dial another extension and “transfer” the call.
- V -
- Voice Mail
- A device used to receive, record, edit, store, forward and retrieve voice messages. An integrated voice mail system provides voice message service to the PBX.

- The pilot number for the Cal Poly voice mail system is (805) 756-6245. (Extension 6-6245 for on-campus callers).
- Voice Message Service (MEW)
- Provides a direct connection to a voicemail box. When LED is lit, an indication of a new voice mail message, depress this key to access the voice mail box. If LED is not lit, dial the voice mail pilot number to access the voice mail system.

- Access code for an off-campus call. Prefix all off-campus calls with a “7” before dialing the off-campus number.
- Note: This does not produce an audible dial tone.

a. Exit key from the voice mail system. To ensure that your voice mail session is ended properly, depress the “9” key until “Good-bye” is heard.
- b. Tone Sender access key. Depress the “9” key after an answered call to send DTMF tones.
