Cellular HD Voice & Wi-Fi Calling
Verizon Wireless and AT&T Wireless, in addition to other cellular providers, have added HD Voice and Wi-Fi Calling as a free feature on newer model smartphones. (Including iPhone 6 and newer models and most Android smartphone models.) This feature allows HD voice calls and web surfing at the same time and is automatically added when these models are purchased through our government account.
But to access Wi-Fi, a 10-digit number (805-123-4567) must be dialed as the 7-digit (123-4567) dialing pattern is not supported. As a general rule, calls will be routed to cellular first then to Wi-Fi, if available. Then those calls routed to Wi-Fi will be charged as data to our Government Unlimited Data Plans. In addition, both parties must have HD Voice enabled on their devices and be connected on the same 4G LTE Network.
Campus users and other cellular customers are advised to update their smartphone contact lists to dial 10-digit numbers only so they can take advantage of Wi-Fi calling when available.
