How to View ARPA Headers

Message headers provide a list of technical details, such as who it came from, the software used to compose it, and the e-mail servers it passed through on the way to the recipient. These details can be useful for identifying problems with e-mail or identifying sources of unsolicited commercial e-mail messages.

The steps to view ARPA headers vary from client to client. Below are the steps to view header information in clients we support:

Email Client

Method to View Full ARPA Email Headers

Outlook Web Client

Open the message.  To the right of the Reply button, click on the V - More Actions button and select View Message Details.

Outlook 2013 Outlook 2016

Open the message.  On the File tab, select Properties.


With the message selected, from the View menu, select Message, and then select All Headers or Long Headers.

Outlook for Mac OS X Right-click or Control-click the message and then select View Source.
