VPN (Virtual Private Network)

Virtual Private Network (VPN) service is available to Cal Poly faculty and staff. VPN provides a secure method to access Cal Poly computing resources from off campus. Once your VPN connection is established, you will be able to access Cal Poly resources as you would from on-campus including:

  • Applications (e.g. AdvanceWeb, Windows Terminal Servers, remote desktop software)
  • File Servers (e.g. Active Directory “U” and “V” drives)
  • Devices (e.g. networked printers)

To access specific systems, like your desktop computer, contact your local tech support for assistance or the ITS Service Desk

Getting Started

Download the VPN client for your operating system and select the appropriate setup instructions below.

Troubleshooting

If you receive a “There are already other user sessions in progress” message after entering your username and password on the My Cal Poly Portal page, you are already logged into the VPN. Click the Continue the session button to disconnect the second session. Cal Poly VPN only allows one session per user.
