CS 9.2 Upgrade & Split

CS 9.2 PeopleSoft Student & HR Service System Downtime April 19-23, 2018

The CSU is upgrading PeopleSoft (CMS) to version 9.2 to provide continued support for this shared system-wide resource and prepare for the upcoming Common HR platform.  Cal Poly’s scheduled downtime window is 5 pm April 19 - 12 pm April 23.  During this period access to PeopleSoft (Student & HR Administration/Student Center) will be unavailable.  This includes services such as Self Service, Enrollment, Financial Aid, Student Finance, Student Center, PolyPlanner and the links in the “Employee Info” and “Personal Info” sections that reside on the “Personal Info” tab in the Cal Poly portal.

The Common Management Systems project (CMS) is a collaborative system-wide effort to provide efficient, effective and high-quality service to the students, faculty, and staff of the 23-campus system and the Office of the Chancellor. This system supports human resources, financials, and student services administration functions with a common suite of Oracle Enterprise applications in a shared data center, with a supported data warehouse infrastructure.

The following services will be down during this maintenance window:

  • Self Service Enrollment 
  • Financial Aid 
  • MCA
  • Student Finance 
  • PolyPlanner 
  • Student Pay 
  • "Share My Info" and "Account Summary" portlets
  • Links in the "Employee Info" and "Personal Info" sections of the "Personal Info" tab

Newly Admitted Students

The Student Center in your MyCalPoly portal will be unavailable from Thursday, April 19 at 5pm through Monday, April 23 at noon due to a required upgrade to the PeopleSoft system. Unfortunately, this means that you will not be able to accept Cal Poly's offer of admission during this outage, update personal information, or access your To Do List. We will send you a follow-up message when the upgrade has been completed so that you can again access your Student Center.

The PeopleSoft 9.2 upgrade splits the existing PeopleSoft SA (Student Administration) and HR (Administration) functions into separate systems. As such, the current single-click link found within the My Apps navigation of the MyCalPoly portal will no longer exist and be replaced with two distinct new links. All functions and services utilized for Student Administration will now be accessible via the new Student Administration link similarly, all Human Resources services can be found by clicking on the HR Administration link.  This change does not affect PeopleSoft Financials (CFS) or Student Center links within the My Apps navigation.

Browser Cache

The split of the Student (CS) and Human Resource systems may cause a false SSL certificate errors due to cached browser cookie data for users traversing from one environment to another within the same browser window. This is a known issue which the Chancellor's Office will be reviewing post 9.2 migration. At this time, CMS central recommends users click the Sign out link in the top right corner of the PeopleSoft window and close the existing browser before logging into the opposite environment.
