Cellular Telephone Support

Cal Poly contracts with Verizon Wireless and AT&T Wireless to provide department-sponsored cellular telephone service for Cal Poly faculty and staff members. Both companies provide competitive rate plans and discounts on wireless phones and accessories. The ITS Service Desk administers the Cellular Telephone Program.

How it Works

  • All charges are billed to the individual's monthly departmental telephone bill. A State PeopleSoft chartfield is required for billing services. While we do support the Corporation, ASI, and auxiliaries, a state account number is still required for billing. Requests for service (new activations, plan changes, new equipment and accessory purchases) require approval from the department Telephone Coordinator. Faculty and staff may transfer their existing department-sponsored phone numbers between vendors but cannot transfer a personal line to the Cal Poly account. A new contract is required and thus, a new wireless number will be generated. To start new service, Telephone Coordinators should fill out the Cellular Service Request Form for either VerizonWireless or AT&T iPhone. Employee discounts for Cal Poly faculty and staff are available to those purchasing their own personal cellular service.
